How UV-Vis works
A Deuterium-Tungsten lamp provides light that is passed through a diffraction grating allowing for single wavelengths to pass through the sample to a photodiode array detector. The absorbance at a specific wavelength or a range of wavelengths is measured. The light is passed simultaneously through the sample and a reference solvent and the ratio of the two beams is displayed as the measurement. The absorbance of a solution is proportional to the concentration of the absorbing species allowing for quantification of the analyte of interest.
Dynalene utilizes a Shimadzu Bio Spec 1601 Spectrophotometer to perform UV-Vis analysis on materials including consumer care products, pigments, coatings, organic conjugates (proteins, DNA, RNA) and metallic ions. This technique is a cost effective way of performing assays and characterizing your product.
